Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be part of the Headquarters Client Support Service (HQCSS) within the Department of Operational Support (DOS). Duties include:
- Administrative Support: Assist with routine administrative tasks related to the Executive Office HR Section/Non-Staff.
- Document Review: Review documents for validity, completeness, and accuracy concerning onboarding and extension requests.
- Correspondence: Draft responses to routine correspondence and follow up on actions and deadlines.
- Information Guidance: Provide information and guidance to hiring managers and candidates about onboarding requirements.
- File Management: Create and archive administrative documents in the SharePoint repository.
- Reporting: Provide statistics and generate reports as required.
- HR Duties: Assist with evaluation, monitoring, and reporting on HR-related issues.
- Documentation Inventory: Develop an inventory of documentation for retention in the office repository.
- Additional Tasks: Perform other functions as requested by supervisors.

Qualifications/Special Skills:
- Education: Enrolled in or completed a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor’s degree program.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in standard software applications, including Excel.
- Interest in UN: Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to its ideals.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and beliefs.
- Desirable: Educational background or exposure to human resources, public administration, or related fields.
Languages:
- Required: Fluency in English.
- Desirable: Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish).
Visa and Work Authorization:
- Visa Requirements: Interns who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents must obtain a G4 visa. Interns are responsible for securing a valid visa and any necessary employment authorization (CPT/OPT) for the internship.
Additional Information:
- Remuneration: Internships are unpaid. Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the intern’s responsibility.
- No Fees: The United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
