The Program Associate is the entry-level position for program work at IRI and provides administrative and programmatic support for current and developing programs in Southeast Asia. This is a hybrid role based in Washington, DC.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Undergraduate degree in political science, international relations, or a related field.
- Experience: 0-2 years of experience in international development or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
- Skills: Excellent writing, research, and communication skills are essential.
- Preferred Experience: International experience and/or interest in Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia, is preferred.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities:
- Procurement: Tracks and follows up on pending procurement requests, approvals, and monitoring once approved, including processing payments.
- Contracts: Compiles and facilitates the submission of subgrant and contract packages, including assisting in drafting contracts when appropriate.
- Financial Management: Assists in monitoring project costs and expenses, providing support in maintaining financial projections and pipelines.
- Reporting: Assists in drafting quarterly, semi-annual, final, and other relevant reports for funders.
- Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E): Supports program M&E, including participating in regular M&E calls, tracking compliance with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Plan, and identifying necessary adjustments.
- Program Design & Strategy: Participates in program design and strategy brainstorming sessions.
- Business Development: Contributes to business development efforts, including writing proposal portions and drafting budgets.
- Research: Conducts research as directed, edits, and summarizes weekly reports for internal and funder audiences.
- Database Management: Updates program databases, contract trackers, etc.
- Briefing Materials: Compiles briefing materials for trainers.
- Document Management: Maintains project sites and documents.
- Logistical Support: Provides logistical support for DC meetings and events related to Southeast Asia.
- Communication Strategy: Supports IRI’s communication strategy, including branding and outreach plans for assigned projects. Drafts and updates program summaries, outreach materials, web stories, tweets, etc.
- Cross-Functional Teams: Participates in cross-functional teams and initiatives (optional).
- Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree or better in Political Science or a related field.
Experience:
- Required: Less than 2 years of experience in international development or a related field. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
