Office/Unit/Project Description
UNDP collaborates with the European Union to enhance the social and economic well-being of vulnerable refugees and host populations in Jordan. This joint effort focuses on effective funding planning, coordination, and management, aiming to strengthen institutional capacities within the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MoPIC) for managing Humanitarian, Development, and Syria Crisis Response (HD&SCR) efficiently.
Scope of Work
Objectives of the Assignment:
As a Research and Coordination Associate, you will provide critical support to the Humanitarian Relief Coordination Unit (HRCU) and the Foreign Funding Unit (FFU) through research, coordination, and business planning. Your responsibilities include:
- Research Support:
- Conducting research to inform sustainable development, humanitarian, and Syria Crisis Response efforts.
- Compiling and analyzing relevant literature and policy documents as requested.
- Supporting research consultants in implementing studies, including data collection and econometric modeling.
- Collaborating with the ODA research desk to contribute to aid impact assessment and classification.
- Coordination and Business Planning:
- Providing coordination and business planning support to HRCU and FFU initiatives.
- Facilitating partnerships with think tanks and economic advisors to produce position papers on sector vulnerabilities.
- Assisting in the preparation of foreign funding and humanitarian reports and fact sheets.
- Reporting and Management Support:
- Drafting periodic and ad hoc reports on research progress.
- Ensuring timely and high-quality submission of reports.
- Supporting financial management, including project budget oversight, procurement, and accounting.
- Coordinating project-related activities such as meetings, consultations, and travel arrangements.
- Institutional Arrangement:
- Working under the guidance of the Governance and Peace Pillar Team Leader at UNDP.
- Collaborating closely with the project team at UNDP and MoPIC.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school certificate with 7 years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in economics, development studies, international relations, business administration, social sciences, or related field with 4 years of relevant experience.
- Experience: Experience in humanitarian and development research, coordination, or related fields. Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and web-based management systems.
- Languages: Proficiency in written and spoken English and Arabic is required.
