Job Overview/Summary

The HR Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and implementing human resource activities within IRC’s Georgia & Florida offices. As a member of the Leadership Team, this position contributes to strategic direction and operational excellence. The HR Manager ensures compliance with organizational policies, local labor laws, and leads initiatives in employee relations, talent acquisition, talent management, and HR administration.

Major Responsibilities

  • IRC Way and HR Expertise:
    • Model and uphold IRC’s values and Code of Conduct, The IRC Way.
    • Serve as a resource on HR policies, practices, and compliance issues, ensuring adherence to internal and external standards, including state- and city-specific labor laws.
    • Support the development and enhancement of HR lifecycle processes as required.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Resolve escalated issues related to employee welfare, benefits, payroll, HRIS, leaves of absence, and general inquiries.
    • Lead intake, make recommendations, and support resolution of sensitive employee relations matters and workplace investigations.
  • Talent Acquisition and Management:
    • Oversee the recruitment process, including job description development, job postings, resume review, interviews, reference checks, background checks, and job offers.
    • Facilitate onboarding processes to ensure compliance with IRC standards.
    • Develop and implement a local talent-development strategy.
  • HR Administration:
    • Manage electronic personnel records and prepare documentation for all Workday transactions, including new hires, transfers, supervisory changes, and separations.
    • Coordinate background check procedures for staff and contractors.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Actively participate in program meetings, staff development activities, and organizational wellness initiatives.
    • Travel occasionally (up to 10%) to IRC offices in Miami and Tallahassee.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree in Human Resources Management preferred.
  • Work Experience: Minimum three (3) years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a nonprofit or similar setting, with experience in employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, learning and development, or organizational development.
  • Certification: PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Solid understanding of federal and state employment laws.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to adapt quickly to change, learn new skills, and problem-solve independently.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; experience with Workday and applicant tracking systems advantageous.
    • Experience in facilitation, change management, or project management is a plus.
    • Demonstrated success in multicultural environments.

Working Environment

This role involves a hybrid work arrangement combining standard office settings and remote work. Occasional weekend or evening work may be required, along with travel to IRC offices in Miami and Tallahassee.
